आज पर्यावरण संकट का एक बड़ा कारण यह सोच भी है कि मनुष्य स्वयं को प्रकृति से अलग और उसका मालिक समझने लगा है।
जब जंगल केवल लकड़ी बन जाते हैं, नदियां केवल पानी का स्रोत बन जाती हैं और जीव केवल उपयोग की वस्तु समझे जाते हैं, तब संतुलन बिगड़ने लगता है।
