Sikar (Tapariya Bagichi): Makar Sankranti is not only a festival of kites, but also a testing time for the tiny birds living around us, for whom Chinese kite strings often turn into deadly weapons. Keeping this painful reality in mind, Shristi Mitraa, in joint collaboration with the Animal Husbandry Department, Animal Welfare Committee and Scout–Guide groups, organized a grand “Injured Bird Rescue & Protection Camp” at Tapariya Bagichi.
The camp was operational from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, during which more than 30 birds injured by Chinese kite strings were treated. These included over two dozen pigeons, one lapwing and one parrot. Some birds succumbed to their injuries before reaching the treatment facility, while many others were given timely medical intervention and saved from critical conditions.
A triage-based segregation system was implemented at the camp so that critically injured birds could be attended to on priority. Birds with minor injuries were provided first aid and safely released back into the open sky, while seriously injured birds were admitted to the bird shelter facility for further care.
Chinese kite strings act like invisible traps for flying birds. Their sharp edges often cause deep cuts to the neck, wings and chest, sometimes tearing the flesh internally. In such cases, timely washing, antiseptic dressing and infection-control treatment prove to be truly life-saving.
Ms. Sulekha Swami, President of Shristi Mitraa, stated, “Saving a bird’s life is not merely an act of compassion, but a way of protecting the soul of our planet. Festivals bring us happiness, but true happiness is achieved when we are able to save a life.”
Dr. Mukesh Swami, Secretary of Shristi Mitraa, informed that due to the awareness campaign conducted seven days prior, the number of bird injury cases declined this year. He also appealed to citizens to avoid kite flying during morning and evening hours to significantly reduce bird casualties.
The campaign witnessed dedicated services by Dr. Rajender Gurjar (Spokesperson), Pawan Kumawat (Treasurer), Haridas Jangid and many other volunteers. Senior officers of the Animal Husbandry Department including Dr. R.K. Kala, Dr. Anjanbal, Dr. Dinesh Nehara and Dr. Mukesh Saini led the entire medical operations throughout the day.
The patron of the State-Level Animal Welfare Committee, Shri Kanti Prasad Pansari, co-patron Shri Surendra Singh Shekhawat, secretary Shri Ram Avtar Godiwal, along with members of AWS and social workers Shri Umesh Mathur, Shri Rakesh Lata, Shri Subhash Mishra, Shri Pramod Agarwal, Shri Niranjan Saini, Shri Kailash Nayak, Mohammad Sadiq and Sunil Diwan, and many other volunteers/philanthropists extended their support to this campaign.
Scout-Guide volunteers Golu Meena, Virendra Bunkar, Dilsukh Bunkar, Nagendra Meena, Lalit Prajapat, Akshay Kumar, Naveen Sain and Devendra Verma displayed exceptional dedication, setting a powerful example for the younger generation.
At the conclusion of the camp, all rescued birds were shifted to the Bird Shelter Facility at the Multi-Purpose Veterinary Hospital. Once their condition shows the required clinical improvement, they will be transferred to Shristi Mitraa’s “Udaanghar” rehabilitation facility for continued care and safe recovery. The organisation also announced that such bird-protection camps will now be organised every year on an even larger scale.
सीकर (तापड़िया बगीची): मकर संक्रांति केवल पतंगों का उत्सव नहीं, बल्कि हमारे चारों ओर बसे उन नन्हे परिंदों की परीक्षा का दिन भी है, जिनके लिए चाइनीज़ मांझा एक जानलेवा हथियार बन जाता है। इसी पीड़ा को देखते हुए सृष्टि मित्रा, पशुपालन विभाग, पशु कल्याण समिति तथा स्काउट-गाइड के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में इस वर्ष भी तापड़िया बगीची में “घायल पक्षी सहायता एवं संरक्षण शिविर” का भव्य आयोजन किया गया।
प्रातः 9 बजे से सायं 5:30 बजे तक चले इस शिविर में चाइनीज़ मांझे से घायल 30 से अधिक पक्षियों का उपचार किया गया। इनमें दो दर्जन से अधिक कबूतर, एक टिटहरी तथा एक तोता शामिल रहे। कुछ पक्षी उपचार स्थल तक आने से पूर्व ही दम तोड़ चुके थे, जबकि कई पक्षियों को तत्काल चिकित्सकीय हस्तक्षेप से नया जीवन मिला।
शिविर स्थल पर ट्राएज आधारित सेग्रिगेशन प्रणाली रखी गई, जिसके तहत गंभीर रूप से घायल पक्षियों को प्राथमिकता से देखा गया। हल्के घायल पक्षियों को प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद सुरक्षित आकाश में मुक्त किया गया, वहीं गंभीर पक्षियों को पक्षी आश्रय स्थल में भर्ती किया गया।
चाइनीज़ मांझा पक्षियों के लिए अदृश्य फंदे की तरह होता है। तेज धार वाला यह धागा उड़ते पक्षियों की गर्दन, पंखों और छाती को इस कदर काट देता है कि कई बार शरीर के अंदर तक मांस फट जाता है। ऐसे मामलों में समय पर वॉशिंग, एंटीसेप्टिक ड्रेसिंग और संक्रमण-निरोधी दवाएं जीवन रक्षक सिद्ध होती हैं।
सृष्टि मित्रा की अध्यक्ष सुलेखा स्वामी ने कहा कि “एक पक्षी की जान बचाना केवल करुणा का कार्य नहीं, बल्कि यह हमारी धरती की आत्मा को बचाने जैसा है। पर्व हमें खुशियां देते हैं, पर खुशी तब ही पूर्ण होती है जब हम किसी का जीवन बचा पाते हैं।”
सचिव डॉ. मुकेश स्वामी ने बताया कि सात दिन पूर्व चलाए गए जागरूकता अभियान के कारण इस वर्ष चोटिल पक्षियों की संख्या में कमी आई है। उन्होंने कहा कि यदि नागरिक सुबह और शाम के समय पतंगबाजी से बचें तो पक्षियों की जान बचाई जा सकती है।
इस अभियान में डॉ. राजेंद्र गुर्जर (प्रवक्ता), पवन कुमावत (कोषाध्यक्ष), हरिदास जांगिड़ सहित दर्जनों स्वयंसेवकों ने दिनभर सेवाएं दीं। पशुपालन विभाग के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों डॉ. आर. के. काला, डॉ. अंजनबाल, डॉ. दिनेश नेहरा, डॉ. मुकेश सैनी सहित पूरे चिकित्सा दल ने लगातार मोर्चा संभाले रखा।
प्रदेश स्तरीय पशु कल्याण समिति के संरक्षक श्री कांति प्रसाद जी पंसारी , सह संरक्षक श्री सुरेन्द्र सिंह शेखावत सचिव श्री राम अवतार गोड़ीवाल सहित AWS के सदस्यों तथा समाजसेवी श्री उमेश माथुर, श्री राकेश लाटा, श्री सुभाष मिश्रा, श्री प्रमोद अग्रवाल, श्री नीरंजन सैनी, श्री कैलाश नायक, मोहमद सादिक एवं सुनील दीवान सहित अनेक स्वयंसेवकों / भामाशाहों ने इस अभियान को अपना समर्थन दिया।
इस अवसर पर स्काउट-गाइड के गोलू मीणा, वीरेंद्र बुनकर, दिलसुख बुनकर, नागेंद्र मीणा, ललित प्रजापत, अक्षय कुमार, नवीन सैनी, देवेंद्र वर्मा जैसे युवाओं ने जिस समर्पण से सेवा दी, वह आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए प्रेरणा बन गया।
शिविर के अंत में सभी पक्षियों को बहुउद्देशीय पशु चिकित्सालय स्थित पक्षी आश्रय गृह में स्थानांतरित किया गया, उनकी स्थिति में आवश्यक सुधार होने पर उन्हें सृष्टि मित्रा के “उड़ानघर” में स्थानांतरित कर संरक्षण एवं पुनर्वास की प्रक्रिया में शामिल किया जाएगा। संस्था ने यह भी घोषणा की कि ऐसे पक्षी-रक्षा शिविर अब प्रत्येक वर्ष और अधिक व्यापक स्तर पर आयोजित किए जाएंगे।
